About Us

Leading Edge Design & Systems (LEDS) was founded in 1984 as an engineering consulting

corporation by Joe Gordon and Duane Tucker.  For the first few years, LEDS designed and

developed microprocessor-based systems such as wind-measuring instruments (such as the

handheld anemometer seen in the movie Twister), a direction-finding system for the Army, and a

signal processing system for the Intelligence Community.

These projects led to larger and larger classified system and software development contracts

(primarily in the Intelligence Community) as well as the development of new expertise in

audio/video systems for Government agencies.  At the end of 2009 the Government Services

Division was sold and Leading Edge focused on AV projects along with automation, security,

and energy management for commercial, educational, and residential clients.

LEDS is a member of the Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association (CEDIA), the

Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), and Infocomm.  Our engineers, designers, and

integrators, and support technicians are trained and certified in the latest technologies and design

techniques.  Our project managers are fully trained in and experienced with the processes and

methodologies as taught by the Project Management Institute.  Our programmers are fully

trained in the software development and configuration management practices used on large

Government and commercial projects and experienced with all aspects of control system design

and programming.
